Twitter and how it reflected & affected the UK election, Are marketeers missing a trick? and more...

It's been a couple weeks since my last update, so here are half a dozen recent Twitter and Social Media news snippets that I thought you may find interesting. This includes one on how Twitter reacted to the recent UK Election. My feeling is that it may have influenced the result (and possibly UK electioneering) forever.

I was also interested to read how few marketeers use Twitter as a social media platform. I have my own pet theory on this which I explain in my recent LinkedIn article. (I'm case you are wondering, this isn't that Twitter is unsuitable for marketing - quite the opposite in fact!)

Please let me know if you find anything I've included particularly interesting or useful, and as always, I'd love to hear any feedback you have.

#GE2017 Election Day on Twitter
Here's an interesting article about the huge amount of election related activity on the UK's Twittersphere with 62% of the activity being related to Labour and Jeremy Corbyn.
Q: Has social media changed the face of electioneering forever in the way TV did in the 50s and 60s?

Are marketeers missing the potential of Twitter due to lack of a mature solution?
Are they missing a trick for want of a solution?

It's not on general release, but Twitter are testing showing a list of popular events at the top of your timeline. (Hopefully these will be targeted based on individual profiles and not just about basebal!)
